Getting Started

Well, here we are at the beginning.

I have to say that getting started on this new project has been tough.  I keep thinking of one more thing to research, one more thing to get organized, one more thing I should learn or think about.

I often do this when I have a great idea.  I get enamored by the idea, excited by all the possibilities.  I get pumped up and ready to go.  I will make a few notes, talk to a few people.  The thing I want more than anything seems SO possible.

And then, nothing.

I either get totally overwhelmed by all there is to do, which doesn’t happen too often, but overwhelm paralysis can get me.

But, more often than not, what does me in is the fear.  What will people think? Is this a good idea? Will it turn out?  Do I even really know what I am doing?  Blah, blah, blah.

I can talk to myself all day long about all the “what ifs”  and get zero accomplished.

Instead, I spend time thinking about all I could/should/will do – as soon as I get all my thoughts in order, or I know that people want to work with me, or I get my desk organized.  Or something OTHER than doing the work to make my dream a reality.

So, here I am. Getting started.  Because it is time.  Time to get this little dream of mine going.  Time to get on the court and start playing.

So, what could you do today?

Just one little thing that is the actual work of what it is you dream about..

  • If you are a painter, put some paint on canvas.
  • If you are a coach, go talk to one person that you would love to work with.
  • If you are a writer, write something, anything.
  • If you want to design clothes, sew something.
  • If you want to help people, find some way to make a difference with someone – today.

What ever it is you are dreaming of – get in action! Enough planning and thinking about  and wondering.

Get out there and do something.
